Dear Customers,
On Saturday 10 November 2007, all web/email hosting accounts on the current server will be relocated to a new server.

The relocation will begin at approximately 8am Saturday 10 November 2007 (AWST GMT + 9). There is quite a large number of accounts, so it may take up to 24 hours to transfer all accounts to the new server.

Once this transfer of your account is complete, any changes to your sites on the old server will not be transferred to the new server.

Generally no action will be required on your part, provided that your domain's nameservers are:

NS1.INFERNOHOST.COM.AU
NS2.INFERNOHOST.COM.AU

If your domain's nameservers are set to something different, you will have to change them to the above at your domain registrar.

To check your domain's nameserver settings, use the WHOIS lookup at DNS Stuff (http://www.dnsstuff.com/).

Here is how things will work:

1) This thread will be updated when the data transfer is underway. At this time do not make any changes to your site on the existing server.

2) Once the transfer is complete, the DNS records for the above nameservers will be updated. This will point your domain to the new server.

3) Once the DNS has propagated, your site on the new server will be available to everyone.

4) The old server will remain active for several days, then will be taken offline.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards,

Note that during this upgrade any domain usernames that have dashes or underscores in them will be renamed to exclude these symbols.

We also advise all users to disable anything involving MySQL updates (order forms, forums, CMS, etc.) by 8am Saturday 10 November 2007 (AWST). Once your account has been transferred you can then enable MySQL on the new server.

This will avoid updates being lost during the transfer and ending up with a database that is a few hours old. If this is not an option, you can leave everything active, the old will still be online for a few days following the upgrade. But you will be responsible for transfering any database updates that might be needed.

POP3/IMAP Users
For those of you using POP3 or IMAP, it is possible that during the move email may get routed to either the new or old servers.

To help avoid this, it is recommended that you modify your existing email account setup in your email client to have an incoming mail server of 74.86.230.2 (the new server).

It is also recommended that you create a duplicate email account (with the same username and password) with an incoming mail server of 70.87.150.130 (the new server).

This will cause your mail client to read mail from both servers and will help ensure that you don't miss any email.

Email Forwarders
For those of you using email forwarders to send your email(s) to an off site email address, no action will be required on your part.

Some customers have reported that the DNS changes haven't propagated yet.

Depending on your ISP, it may take up to 24 hours for the DNS changes to propagate.

If you haven't done so already, MySQL related features can now be enabled on the new server. It is recommended that you keep MySQL related features disabled on the old server.
